It is my firm belief that the purpose of Education is to prepare you for life, and survivability is secondary. Therefore, the topics in this presentation glance over the various discliplines, attempt to delete the misinformation and untruths, and present the facts to the student in all honesty.
Architects and Designers work with ‘Space’, in Space, and create spaces for human habitation for various uses. Understanding space is of primary concern and a number of chapters have been devoted to it. But without understanding the Human element and his Health, wellbeing, and longetivity, all other efforts become futile. Designing spaces that harm a human through various means, or rather utter neglect of human well being is the norm these days. Create some space and someone will occupy it.
I find this trend totally unacceptible, which is devoid of finer human sensitivities and sensibilities. Sensitivities, that if neglected, give you problems of the body mind and soul. There may not be immediate effects, but in the course of a lifetime this insensitivity cost you a lifetime of pain, disease, and unhappiness. Keeping your head north does not kill you instantly, but it certainly will give you a restless night and the subsequent problems over the years. I hope you get the point and further chapters will eludidate the reader the various ways by which humans, in history, had their lives tuned to the cosmos and the Creator.
About Us
Prof. Darvish is a graduate of “College of Fine Arts & Architecture” Osmania University, Hyderabad. After obtaining his degree in Bachelor of Architecture in 1976, he joined the Masters Programme in “Urban and Regional Planning” at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. In 1978 he joined the Master’s Program in Regional and Community Planning at Kansas State University (U.S.A) specializing in Urban Design and Historic presentation. While at K.S.U., he devised and taught Design graphics and Environmental Design in the Department of Architecture from 1978 to 1982. From 1982 to 1990 he worked as an Architect/Planner for various consulting firms and later setup practice in El.Paso, Texas.
During this period his research interests in Latin American History of Art and Architecture prompted extensive travels to Mexico, for a period of one year. He returned to India in 1990 and founded the “Institute of Architecture & Design” offering a one year Diploma in Environmental Design, and also established consultancy at Hyderabad.
His past interests include
- History of India with specific reference to fabricated colonial myths and religious upheavals.
- Sacred Grooves – A history of Landscape in India
- Indian Crafts – Mud, Stone, and Bamboo as interior and exterior building components.
Prof. Darvish has published several papers in various Professional journals and Publications relating to History, Art, Architecture, Environment, and Education. He has also published a Designer’s handbook titled “ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN” in 1995.
